Risks In Faith: God Multiplies!

Got this from Sari's blogs. All I can say is, "Amen!"

+++

Risks in Faith: God Multiplies
by Rick Warren

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

- 2 Corinthians 9:10 (NIV)

If you give God your time, he multiplies it. If you give him your money or energy, he multiplies those too. It’s like planting seeds. Farmers know that seeds must be given away – sacrificed by being buried in the ground – to do any good. If you keep a seed in a sack, it does no good, but if you plant it, it multiplies. For example, when you plant just one watermelon seed, you get a bunch of watermelons with hundreds of seeds in them. In the same way, God multiplies whatever you give him.

What’s the key ingredient in this seed planting? Faith. But we have to understand the difference between faith and bargaining. Bargaining is when you say, “God, help me close this deal and I’ll give you part of it.” Bu...

2008.06.05 - Parc de la Chute / Manoir Montmorency @ Quebec, QC, Canada

This is the second part of my very amazing work week! Just taking a breather posting SW1 pictures. Can't imagine being from one breathtaking view to being on another breathtaking view just a week apart.

Now this is what I call, Not-Your-Usual-Canadian-Dinner. Everything is just 20 minutes away from downtown Quebéc. Even Parc de la Chute, which is about the same distance as downtown LA to LAX, took us 20 minutes to get there. And oh, we left the office at around 7:45PM! Still we were able to get some sunlight. Well, sunset here is 9PM so what do we expect?

Enjoy the

Quiet Comfort 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones

I have these headphones for over six months now and all I can say about them is that they are really unbelievable! These headphones were first made for F16 pilots to preserve their hearing ability by lessening the wind noise they get during take off and landing. Saying that these do it very well is an understatement!

First off, I would like to say that Bose should change the name from Noise Cancelling to Noise Reducing because I can still here the warning tones by the captain during in-flight, which is a good thing. Also, these only reduce the sounds made by other people who talk excessively loud. I consider them as noise, but they don't get cancelled. (I even wrote a blog about that.) Other than that, I have no complaints at all!

These headphones give the best sound experience ever! When you put them on, you feel like you are part of the music, as if you are watching the musicians live. You also get to notice the little quirks of the music, such as the lead guitar is panne...

2008.01.19 - Walk For Life West Coast 2008 @ San Francisco, CA

Picked up Lisa at ONT airport.
Went to Marc's place.
Drove 6 hours to get to South San Francisco.
Rode BART from SFO to Civic Center.
Walked 3 miles to get to the church.
Walked a few more miles to get to Justin Hermann Plaza.
Walked 2-3 miles to get to Marina area. This one took us 3 hours, I think.

It was awesome! I should have brought a thicker jacket

The Jane Austen Book Club

Don't get me wrong, I love the movie. I saw this movie on the second leg coming back from Florida. It's just that there were too many characters and too many subplots within the movie that you can't really fit inside a one and a half hour timeframe. It doesn't help that I haven't read any Jane Austen novel.

I liked how the movie developed the main characters namely, Jocelyn (Maria Bello) and her male counterpart Daniel (Jimmy Smits) but I am intrigued by Prudie (Emily Blunt) and her own love story. I just wish they have kept the book club to four people so that they would not have had any time constraints. Also, there were six Jane Austen books. They could have settled for four and do more of character development but I guess it won't really be a Jane Austen Book Club if they did only a few of her books.

Anyway, it is a feel-good movie and (spoiler alert) it has happy endings for everyone in the book club. So, if you're a sucker for drama movies, this one is for you especi...

An excerpt from Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse's article published by National Catholic Register in their January 6-12, 2008 issue.

"That is when it struck me what was so remarkable about this abstinence conference. It didn’t talk about avoiding pregnancy or STDs. Instead, the Singles for Christ conference talked about marriage: how to prepare for marriage, and how to choose a partner wisely.

The very first presentation of the conference was by a young married couple with three small children. They talked about meeting at a Singles for Christ event and about their courtship. They didn’t have to say they loved each other and their children. Anyone could see that for themselves.

But it was more than the presentations that convinced me there was something special going on here. It was also watching the young people interacting among themselves. They were singing, laughing and teasing each other. No downcast up-tight virgins here. These kids were obviously having a blast.

I thought to myself...

Walk of Faith

My faith walk for the past two years. Yes, all of you have have been my angels. I thank everyone for being there along the way. A four-minute song was not enough to capture everything, but this will do for now. So many pictures, too little time.

Oh, it was my first time to ever do something like this. Pardon the crudeness. I was just testing things out.

JX10 Series II

This is my very first bluetooth headset. I was looking for one to use since they banned cellphone usage without handsfree kits while driving at the start of the year.

Major things I look for in a bluetooth headset:
1. Sound quality - both ways. You should be able to hear the caller and they should be able hear you loud and clear.
2. Small - so that it won't be conspicuous.
3. Easy to use.

It has everything! I'm really surprised to note that one of my friends actually heard the microwave oven beeping when in fact I was ten feet away from it during one of our conversations. It is so small that you won't notice that you are wearing it. It is also easy to pair with your cellphone.

The cons are:
It is a bit on the pricey side. It cost me $99 plus tax at BestBuy.com. It does not have the other features that the other headsets have with them such as voice-enabled dialling and the like. The ear strap can get uncomfortable after an hour wearing the headset.

Overall, if you are l...

Awesome, this time the weather cooperated! Well, for a little while though. In the morning it was still raining, but when I left office to meet up with my college classmate in Downtown Seattle, the sun shone!

Maxtor Shared Storage II (1 TB)

Terrabyte!

That's 1024 Gigabytes of storage! Perfect for the digimaniacs like me, who snap digital photos like there's no tomorrow, record funny video clips, and of course, have their digital music to go!

This external hard drive can be shared across multiple computers via ethernet connection, commonly known as a local area network (LAN). You can also plug into it a USB printer making it a print server on the fly. Once you've set it up, you now have one terrabyte (TB), that's again, 1024 GB of disk storage shared across your wired desktops or to your wireless laptops. Doesn't have an S-Video output but you can buy a uPnP video adapter to stream all your digital content on your High-Definition TV! It also comes in a mini version a 500GB or a 320GB size.

This thing is the new wave of the future! And did I mention huge storage space?

Can someone be my Santa and drop this on my stocking for Christmas?

2007.09.22 to 2007.09.23 - Northern California Family Getaway

Yes, this was really a fun weekend getaway!
It was my first time to actually walk on the sidewalk of Golden Gate Bridge!

I'm so proud of my family; they took the Greyhound from LA to San Francisco! They even planned on riding the Greyhound back to LA but I just said that will be too tiring for them... They took an afternoon flight from SJC to LAX. They were the ones who convinced me to walk the GG Bridge! Wow, I never thought of doing that!

The best thing of all, we even got to see our very own De La Cruz Blvd!

Our itinerary:
Saturday - San Francisco and San Mateo
Sunday - Carmel then back to San

Pisay

From the director of Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Auraeus Solito, who himself is a Pisay alumnus!

Yes, we get that stereotypical misconceptions like we have thick glasses and talk about only intellectual garbage. This should be an eye-opener for the masses, for most of the Pisay alumni don't fit the description. From the looks of the trailer, this film was shot inside the Pisay campus! They also sport the authentic uniform for both boys and girls. I hope they will also show this here in the United States.

Sorrentino's Bistro-Bar

Hot Culture with Haute Couture!

Yes, Italian cuisine at its finest. From the outside, it looks more like an American restaurant, but when you finally get in, its ambience will wow you. It is the same as what Starbucks in Manila does to everyone, forget that we are in the Philippines just by being inside their coffee shops. They have a bar upfront, family tables, and an outdoor setting for the smokers. A small restaurant, but really worth the experience!

They have a great variety of food. They serve smaller portions compared to American restaurants but hey, you really have to make room for desserts! A three-course meal will cost you over 40 Canadian Dollars, while a two-course meal, will be in the thirties. I went to this place thrice, and those are the average. For the curious, here is a list of what I got and their prices, tax (6%) and tip (15%) included:

Day 2:
Appetizer: None
Main Course: New York Steak (6 oz)
Dessert: Tiramisu
Drink: Soda Pop
Damage: 38 CAD
