for everyone

Don't get me wrong, I love the movie. I saw this movie on the second leg coming back from Florida. It's just that there were too many characters and too many subplots within the movie that you can't really fit inside a one and a half hour timeframe. It doesn't help that I haven't read any Jane Austen novel.

I liked how the movie developed the main characters namely, Jocelyn (Maria Bello) and her male counterpart Daniel (Jimmy Smits) but I am intrigued by Prudie (Emily Blunt) and her own love story. I just wish they have kept the book club to four people so that they would not have had any time constraints. Also, there were six Jane Austen books. They could have settled for four and do more of character development but I guess it won't really be a Jane Austen Book Club if they did only a few of her books.

Anyway, it is a feel-good movie and (spoiler alert) it has happy endings for everyone in the book club. So, if you're a sucker for drama movies, this one is for you especially if you're a Jane Austen fan. As for me, this movie just introduced me to Jane Austen and I may pick up some of her books at the nearest bookstore.
